From June 1999, it will be possible to use either the new 028 area code and the eight digit local number, or the existing area code and existing (five or six digit) local number.
Both the existing and new numbers will work together until 16th September 2000.
From 17th September 2000 you will only be able to use the new eight digit local number.

Until 22 April 2000 you can continue to use existing local (five or six digit) local number.
After 22 April 2000 local dialling arrangements continue but you MUST use NEW NUMBERS.

If you have an existing number that is not on the 07 range, both the old and new numbers will run together between September 1999 and April 2001. After 2001 only the new number will work.
